Genie Screw Drive Garage Door Opener Failure - Diagnostics - Part 1

Genie Screw Drive Garage Door Opener Failure - Diagnostics - Part 1 Video Clips. Duration : 4.00 Mins.

I bought a Genie H4000A-2 in 2007, which is a screw drive model, hoping it would be more reliable than the chain types. Well, this one failed yesterday. The one I got was the 3 piece rail type, which is the source of the problem. The screw drive sections are held together with these collars, and the collars are kept in place with crappy little retaining clips. Well, the retaining clip must have stuck out too far and got wedged in the screw drive. Then the carriage wouldn't slide past it. And it turns out the carriage is all chewed-up because of this issue. I tried to call the 800-354-3643, but the recording said they weren't taking calls and hung up. If you want to see me fix something even MORE not worth fixing, look at this one: www.youtube.com
